Choosing Among Walk In Bathtubs

With so many health benefits that hydrotherapeutic bathtubs provide, it is no wonder that a lot of people want to have one for their home. Bathtubs come in a variety of designs and features, but when it comes to addressing safety, walk-in tubs are recommended. These days, there are a number of companies that offer walk in bathtubs. These bathtubs are designed with doors that make it easy to enter or exit the tub. They also have a seat that is especially helpful for the handicapped or people with limited mobility.
When choosing among such bathtubs, it is important to keep your needs, or the needs of whoever will use the tub, in mind. If it helps, you can make a list on some areas of consideration.
Features
Regardless of whoever will use the tub, whether a young one or a senior, it is important to have safety features. Make sure that walk in bathtubs have grip handles as well as non-slip floors to prevent accidents.
You also have the option to choose whether the door will open inward or outward. Most bathtub doors are designed to swing inward due to space constraints. Inward swinging is also better for tight sealing because the door is forced to shut due to water pressure. Bathtub doors that swing outward are better for homes with bigger bathrooms. Outward swinging is advantageous in case of any emergency.
Another thing to look into when choosing among walk in bathtubs is whether the panel for fixing plumbing is accessible. If there is an easy access panel, that is a plus. In addition, any latch or control must be easy to operate by seniors or handicapped people.
Hydrotherapeutic Features
Check whether the tub has hydrotherapeutic features or whirlpool options, if you prefer. Having built-in heaters in the tub is also important if you want to have the ideal temperature maintained. In addition, having custom choices or settings for jet propulsions can suit anyone's preference.
Additional Options
Companies mostly have ready-made models of walk in bathtubs you can choose from. However, there are often other available options you can have. Check whether you can get an ozonator, which is used to sanitize the water and reduce maintenance costs. There is also the option of chromatherapy, where underwater LED lights can contribute to your moment of relaxation. And check for other additional safety features like anti-skid valves or mats.
Quality Care and Service
One of the most important things to consider is whether the people you are dealing with are patient and understanding of your needs. The process of choosing is made much more worth it when you have kind and knowledgeable staff working for you. When choosing from walk in bathtubs, look for any warranty. It is great to have a lifetime warranty for door seals. If you will use your tub every day, it is important to have warranty especially on the door in case it gives in and leaks.
When it comes to bathing, a customer's needs are unique. Make sure to check every feature and option when investing on these tubs. Baths are supposed to help you get through life's stresses. It is essential that you buy only the best among walk in bathtubs according to your needs.

Bathtub Repair

The process of bathtub repair can involve something as simple as repairing a small leak or clearing a clogged drain. Other forms of bathtub repair may involve reworking the bathtub plumbing or resurfacing a tub that is worn and looks dingy even after a thorough cleaning.when you face the task of repairing problems, it is important to keep a few basic thoughts in mind.

While minor plumbing issues such as snaking a clogged bathtub drain or dealing with a hairline crack along one wall of the tub are usually not costly, other issues may be so expensive that replacing the bathtub is a better solution. This is especially true with some of the newer acrylic and fiberglass tubs. Before making a final decision, look closely at what it will cost to repair the tub versus simply replacing the bathtub altogether.

Another consideration has to do with just how much you love your current bathtub. Perhaps you have an old fashioned claw foot tub that that is deeper and longer than most of the modern tubs. While it may be more workable to part with your older tub, you would stand to lose some comfort and style in your bathroom. If you are not going to be glad with a different tub, then it is worth the time and the expense to address and fix bathtub issues that may be present. While it may cost more in terms of money, getting dispose of your cherished tub would cost a great deal in other ways that are equally important.

When there are no plumbing issues present and the tub is in good working condition, the bathtub repair may focusing on the appearance of the bathtub. Over long periods of use, the surface of even porcelain tubs will experience chips. worn spots and scratches. Fortunately, resurfacing is often an option that will yield extra results. Methods used today for refinishing and re glazing an older tub are much more efficient and effective than even a few years ago. Where a resurfacing used to take some days, it is sometimes possible to end the job in no more than a single day.

Bathtub repair today is very different from repair methods of decades past. Fixing a minor leak on a bathtub is now no more intricate or costly than dealing with a toilet leak. Many repair jobs can be accomplished with the use of kits rather than calling on a plumber or other professional when something is wrong with the tub. Even when professional assistance is required, many repairs can be done in a short period of time and last for some years.

When faced with a bathtub repair issue, take into consideration the cost of repairing versus replacing, how long does it take? and whether or not you would be glad with a new  bathtub.

A Bathtub Shower

A bathtub shower is a bathroom fixture which combines a shower and bathtub in one location, allowing bathers to select whichever they prefer at any given time. Many small bathrooms are installed with a bathtub shower,as there is not room for a bathtub and a shower, and combining the two fixtures into one also saves on plumbing costs. It is possible to purchase bathtub showers from home supply stores, and also to build this bathroom fixture from the zero point.

An ordinary bathtub has sides which are just high enough to contain the water, and taps which are located inside the tub or just above it for the purpose of filling it.Showers, on the other hand, need high walls to contain splash back, along with a door or a curtain to permit entry.Showers also require high taps so that water can fall from above onto the bather.

There are a number of ways to approach the construction of a bathtub shower.a popular solution is to have one set of cold and hot water taps with a valve which can be used to divert water to the bath tap or the shower head.It is also possible to see two totally separate taps, or to use a hose attachment which connects to the bath tap and loops around a hook on the wall to create a shower.

In some cases, a traditional bathtub is converted into a bathtub shower, either by being surrounded by a curtain held up on a level which also supports the shower plumbing,or by being built into an enclosure which can be closed with a door or curtain for showering.Modular bathtub shower Accessories are usually designed to be built into a wall, and they include a tub attached to high sides to make a shower stall.
In older bathrooms which only have a tub, making a bathtub shower conversion is a cheap solution to the desire to have access to a shower, when contrasted with ripping the tub out to make room for a shower stall or a shower to the bathroom .In a household where people have mixed preferences and only one bathroom, bathtub shower fixtures can eliminate arguments about whether to install a tub or a shower.

Fixing The Clogged Bathtub

A clogged bathtub may be a little higher on the difficulty scale than toilet or clogged kitchen drain. but most homeowners should be able to fix a clogged bathtub using basic repair tools and commercially available chemical drain openers. Before attempting any clogged bathtub repair, however, an amateur plumber may want chemicals and all of these tools on the premises. This could mean a trip to a local hardware store to buy a plunger or plumber’s helper, an adjustable pipe wrench and a chemical drain opener.

The first way to fix a clogged bathtub is to visually inspect the drain for evident blockages. Sometimes a small bar of soap or a child’s toy becomes compact in the bathtub drain and it becomes a simple matter of pulling the blockage out. The object may be stuck a few inches down the drain, Clumps of hair can also compile behind the plate covering the water controls, so it might help to remove that plate by manually cleaning out the opening.

If the clog hardly removed by hand, then another way to fix a clogged bathtub is to use plumber’s helper or a plunger. A plunger is a simple tool consisting of a rubber cup and a wooden handle. The cup should be placed squarely over the hole in order to get a good seal. The user should then press down on the cup with the stick until it is fully compressed over the drain. Sometimes this initial burst of pressure will expel the clog, but many times the plunger will need to be pulled up and pressed down repeatedly. After a few strong compressions, check for any signs of draining water.

If physical plunging does not fix a clogged bathtub, it may be time for more  rapacious chemical action. The instructions on most chemical drain openers to put on protective clothing, including rubber gloves and goggles. The drain opener may be poured into standing water, but manufacturers may recommend removing as much excess water as possible. Once the drain opener has been poured into the bathtub drain, After a specified amount of time has elapsed, the drain should be checked for any signs of restored water flow.

The last thing to fix a clogged bathtub is to either run a plumping snake through the drain system or remove effective drain pipe for a thorough inspection and cleaning. This kind of work is reserved for professional plumbers, but amateur handyman should be able to maneuver a flexible pipe snake through a drain without causing significant damage.in this try should fail to produce any results, however, the next step may be to call in a professional plumber, since the clog may be located far from the bathtub itself.
